A LOVE AFFAIR WITH LEOPARD: Scarves

I have a deep love affair with leopard.  The funny thing about this so called love affair of mine is that I don’t own a lot of it! The one piece (yes I do mean one piece) that I have is a scarf.

(I wear too much if you ask my husband!)

I think leopard or cheetah is a staple in any fashionista’s wardrobe.  Don’t you agree?

Pairing it with green or pink works as well as yellow or more of a mustard hue.

You can never go wrong with leopard and red.  You just can’t!

I’m currently on the hunt for more leopard to add to my wardrobe.  From shoes to even something as simple as a belt, I need a little more of this print in my possession.  Is leopard part of your wardrobe?

MY WEEKEND IN A FLASH

Happy Monday! Just popping in to share a few snapshots of my weekend

I have gotten hooked on going to thrift stores and finding fabulous clothing pieces.  This pink Lord and Taylor blazer was a total score for $4.29.  It’s a wool/cashmere blend and it’s perfect with my grey skinnies!

I’m in the middle of putting together a list of 30 things I want to do before I turn 30 and wearing red lipstick in one of them! I wanted to start small, so I purchased some red Revlon lip gloss.  The color is called “Fire” and it was just what I needed to give me the confidence to go forth with finding the right shade of red lipstick.  Next stop, the MAC counter!

I love pops of red in the winter time.   And this red “MJ” inspired jacket from Ashley Stewart was the perfect addition to this blue and black ensemble.

Vintage COACH anyone?! Ever since I found out COACH brought back their classic bags, I’ve been on the hunt for one of the originals.  Lucky me because I found one at thrift store for $15.99!

I spent Friday night wondering why I never wore these shoes… I’ll fix that this upcoming weekendSmile

I’ve been going back and forth on cutting my hair again.  I love my curls, but I also loved my shaved head… This weekend, I almost pulled out the clippers.  But for some reason, I can’t do it.  Maybe for the spring.

Lastly, I attended my sis inlaws surprise birthday party Saturday night… It was a great night and a much needed kid free outing for my hubby and I.  Below is one of my favorite photos of the two of us from the party!  I Red hearthim!

That’s my weekend in a flash, how was yours?!

CREATING INSPIRATION THAT’S TANGIBLE

Last year, I participated in a conference hosted by Coca-Cola and Blogher.  While there, we (bloggers) were asked to put together an inspiration board filled with some things we would like to accomplish in our personal lives.

Because it was spur of the moment, I really didn’t have a chance to think about everything that I would want to put on my inspiration board.  Now that it’s the beginning of the year, I think it’s a great time to start on a new one!

With this board, I want to focus on a few things:

CAREER

It’s time for my business to grow.  I thought of Swoon Worthy Boutique two years ago and haven’t done everything with it that I want to.

HOME

My home is coming along pretty good, but we’ve been here for three years and it’s time for me to with it when it comes to finishing up decorating it.

TRAVEL

I’ve actually started going to different places.  Now that I have taken my first plane ride, it’s on and popping (though I still cry when it’s time to board!).  I want to go to a few more places (other than New York)… Maybe somewhere exoticSmile

HEALTH

Another thing I want to work on is my health.  Another thing that I started, but eventually gave up on was exercising and losing weight.

SPIRITUAL

At one point, I attended church regularly.  Now, not so much.  Because I believe that you don’t actually have to attend a building to be connected with God, I decided to stop going.  I was at peace with that decision, but I must admit that there is just something about being surrounded with other people in worship. With all of the controversy in the news with some of these “mega” church leaders, I have not decided if I want to attend my home church service again or if I would prefer to just purchase the CD and continue to get the word at home.

BEAUTY

I did “the big chop” over the summer and I’m so glad I did!  I’m currently growing my hair back, but I think I want to chop it off again.  Having no hair forces you to try and glam yourself up more than you usually would.  Because I got caught up in all of DIY and decorating my home, I let myself go when it came to “beauty”.  I even stopped shopping for clothes.

FASHION

My first love was fashion.  In school, I planned to move to New York, find love, and land a job/career as a buyer or a fashion forecaster.  Over the past few years I’ve lost touch with my inner fashionista.  It’s time to get back to that.  Another thing that got me in a funk is that I’m now plus size.  **PAUSE** I’ve always been plus size to American standards, but now I’m plus size to mine.  I recently (sadly) realized that being plus sized does not mean that you have to look frumpy all of the time. Plus size can be fabulous!

Hopefully in the next few days I’ll have a chance to work on my board.  I have the perfect spot for it already!

It kind of defeats the purpose of creating an inspiration board if you’re going to put it in a drawer or somewhere out of site.  You want to place it somewhere so you can see it daily to continue to be inspired by it.  When I finish mine, I’ll share it with you!

*If you create inspiration boards, what are you including in yours this year?  Have you started a new board already?

A NEW YEAR EQUALS A NEW ME?

It's a new year. What does that really mean? For some, it means making resolutions (which lets be honest, no one really keeps), and planning for a great year; a fresh start if you will... For me, I think I'm just getting back to basics. I'm not going all into detail about what that means exactly, but if was gay and never told anyone, this would be my "coming out" party!

Many of you know me from my other blog (and I'm glad you followed me here!), but I felt like I was limited on things I could talk about and do because of the image I had created over there. Let me say now that I'm not a wild woman or anything, I just feel like this blog will be a better reflection of who I really am. H23DB's had become a blog that was basically for my DIY and decorating journey with the occassional post about the boys... I'm more than that. A LOT more than that! I'm not a home blogger or a "mommy" blogger and really there isn't anything wrong with those types of bloggers, but when I created my blog, I really didn't know what I wanted to talk about. The only blogs that I read were interior design/DIY blogs so I became one too. But I think when I did that, I lost pieces of who I was.

I am a mom.

I am a wife.

I am a fashionista.

I am a decorator.

I am a DIY'er.

I am a lover of art.

I am a lover of music.

I am a lifestyle blogger.

I AM THAT GIRL!

welcome to my blog...
